12 Mar 2012: > The Registry of Moneylenders has temporarily suspended the processing of applications for new moneylender licences, until after the Registry finishes its review of the moneylending laws to strengthen protection for borrowers and exercise tighter control over the moneylending industry.

Debt Repayment Scheme
The Debt Repayment Scheme (DRS) seeks to assist debtors, upon a bankruptcy application, who have debts less than $100,000 by devising a debt repayment plan to pay their debts over a fixed period of time. These debtors must be employed and earning a regular income.

The Public Trustee administers the estates of deceased persons, where the value of the estate does not exceed $50,000. The Public Trustee also administers and distributes according to law, the CPF funds of deceased persons who have not nominated any beneficiaries or who have nominated beneficiaries who are below 18 years of age.
