  •   1. How can the Public Trustee help in the administration of CPF monies
     of deceased?
The Public Trustee administers Central Provident Fund (CPF) monies of a deceased CPF member.

If upon the death of a CPF member, the CPF Board determines that the deceased member had not made a valid nomination during the member’s lifetime or the person nominated (other than a widow) is under 18 years old, the CPF Board will forward the deceased member’s CPF monies to the Public Trustee for distribution according to Section 25 of the Central Provident Fund Act (Cap. 36).

Situations where a deceased will not have a valid nomination:

    • the deceased CPF member did not nominate any person to receive the member’s CPF monies or;
    • the nomination made was invalid or void.
  •   2. How will the Public Trustee distribute the CPF monies of a deceased?
Upon receipt of a deceased’s CPF monies, the Public Trustee will inform the deceased’s next-of-kin to submit an online application and provide a copy of documents stated in the application. Alternatively, the documents may be submitted to:

The Public Trustee (Insolvency & Public Trustee's Office)
    The URA Centre, East Wing,
    45 Maxwell Road, #06-11, Singapore 069118
    Tel : 6325 1500  |  Fax: 6224 2858
    Email: ipto_enquiry@ipto.gov.sg

Application forms which are incomplete or submitted without the required documents will result in a delay in the distribution of the deceased’s CPF monies to the beneficiaries.

    Muslims

If the deceased was a Muslim, you also need to submit to the Public Trustee an Inheritance Certificate. The certificate can be obtained from the Syariah Court. The information and documents are required to ascertain the beneficiaries of the deceased.

The deceased’s unnominated CPF monies will be distributed in accordance with the Administration of Muslim Law Act (Cap. 3) even though the deceased has made a will.

    Non-Muslims

If the deceased was a non-Muslim, the unnominated CPF monies will be distributed in accordance with the provisions of the Intestate Succession Act (Cap. 146) even though the deceased has made a will.

    Minor beneficiaries

If the beneficiary of the deceased’s unnominated CPF monies is under 21 years old, the Public Trustee will hold the minor’s share in trust until the minor attains 21 years of age.

If the nominee of the deceased’s nominated CPF monies is under 18 years old, the Public Trustee will hold the minor’s share in trust until he attains 18 years of age.

Application for maintenance of minor beneficiaries

Where the Public Trustee is holding the monies in trust for a minor beneficiary, the parents or legal guardians may make an application to the Public Trustee for the monthly maintenance and education of the minor beneficiary.

You need to complete an online application and provide a copy of the documents stated in the application. Alternatively, the documents may be submitted to:

The Public Trustee (Insolvency & Public Trustee's Office)
    The URA Centre, East Wing,
    45 Maxwell Road, #06-11, Singapore 069118
